This is a book for the Sotheby's New York October 12, 2001 sale catalog for the Hegarty Collection of Antique Toys. 299 lots is thgis 148 page fully illustrated, all color catalog. This will be a great reference book for years to come. The lots cover: Mostly cast iron toys mid to late 1880; Kyser and Rex, Ives, J. & E. Stevens, Dent, Pratt & Letchworth, Wilkins, Gong Bell Mfg., Carpenter, Hubley, Harris, Kenton, Welker & Crosby, Harris, Ideal, Merriam Manufacturing, N.N. Hill Brass Co., American Tin, Althof Bergmann, Francis Field, Shimer, Saratoga Chimes, Topsy, Buck's, A. C. Williams, Kyser & Rex, Stevens & Brown, Arcade, Jones & Bixler, Beggs, Weeden Dart, U. S. Hardware, George Brown. This Collection began in the early 1940s when there was very little information available. Hegarty bought toys from the Dent Factory that are in unplayed-with many still with their Dent Factory Sample tags. The collection is filled with rare examples in superb condition, seldom available on the market. Although their cast iron bank collection was sold a number of years ago, the cast iron toy collection has remained intact for over 30 years. Some of these toys are illustrated in "The Toy Collector" by Louis Hertz. Items are Pull-Toy & Wind-Up in Cast Iron, Tinplate, and Hand Painted.
