Description:
A fine and rare neoclassic soft pine mantel removed from a residence in Philadelphia, Penn. The molded shelf having two projected ends over gouge carved tablets. A dentil course of gouge work is above the tablets and supports the shelf. The plain frieze is crossed with a molded band course. The mantel jambs or legs are mounted with molded pilasters having molded capitals and molded applied bases. The hearth opening has vigorous molding. Note: this example shows the Philadelphia school to advantage. The mantel has been hand cleaned of all old paint buildup, woodwork repairs have been made as necessary and a rich hand rubbed patina finish applied. Should you wish to paint the mantel, use a soft cloth with turpentine to remove any wax from the surface of the mantel prior to painting. NOTE: This mantle should be installed by your mechanic in accordance with all local fire and building codes. (#1539)
