Description: AMERICAN WATCH Co. Appleton Tracy & Co. KEY WIND CIVIL WAR KEY WIND C: 1864. Fine and rare Early American. This grade was the highest grade produced. The jewel settings were all wide well diamond screw down jewels. This American Watch Co. began production in 1857 and changed her name in 1873 to the "American Waltham Watch Co." American Watch Co. produced watches in Boston, Mass. and circulation was limited to the Northern States of the Union during the Civil War. This piece was produced in late 1863 and is in excellent original condition. This watch sold for a higher price than the common "Em. Ellery" grades from the same period. This watch is historic and very interesting among Civil War period collectors. Clean, running movement. THIS IS A FINE COLLECTIBLE. DON'T INVEST IN THE STOCK MARKET. BUY SOMETHING PROVEN IN TIME.

DIAL: White porcelain single sunked with the original hands and signed: "AMERICAN WATCH Co." in fine block. One single light hairline does not distract.

MOVEMENT: 18 size, full plate gilt, key wind and key set, 15 wide well diamond screw down jewel settings, signed: "Appleeton, Tracy, & Co.", #132,791. Excellent gilt plates, free of blemish, rust, or distraction.

CASE: Double hinged back and bezel open face key wind case of nickel/silver materialmarked; "SILVEROID". Excellent condition with plain polished surfaces.
