Description: Very nice Victorian Flemish Art pyrographic glove box. This beautiful box has a wonderful design and patina, with brass hinges and closing mechanism. It is stamped on the bottom with the trademark of the Flemish Art Co. of New York with the number 681, 2 standing bears, and the phrase FLEMISH QUALITY IS STANDARD. Flemish Art, the popular Victorian hobby of pyrography or the burning of designs on wooden surfaces, was named for the Flemish Art Co. which produced blanks (boxes and other items) and pyrographic tools for the hobbyist. This box is in very good to excellent condition, intact and clean, with little sign of usage; it has a small dark discoloration on the lower right side of the front.
