Description: The teapot has an oval plain can shaped form with bead decorated borders. The flush hinged domed cover is fitted with a painted pear sood and silver finial. The teapot is also fitted with a painted wood handle. The contemporary engraved initials 'RB to MW' are engraved to one side of the teapot body. The hallmarks are struck to the underside of the base. The teapot stand has an oval plain form with a swept bead decorated border. There is an engraved crest above the contemporary engraved initals 'JMR' to the centre of the stand. The stand is supported by four claw and ball feet. The hallmarks are struck to the underside. Both pieces are struck with the maker's marks of John Langlands and John Robertson. The teapot stand however, was assayed in London (which was normal practice at the time), hence the different date letters. Both pieces were made in 1793. Both the teapot and stand are a very good gauge of silver and in excellent condition. The hallmarks to each piece are very clear. Reflections in photography may not give a true representation of these items.
