Description: Antique Italian flat box with incised decorations and blue and white enamel. The central panel is covered with a crystal plaque protecting an ivory plaque that is hand painted and representing the birth of Venus after 15th. century painting of Sandro Botticelli housed at Uffizi Muzeum. A standing woman is offering a red linen for cover, while 2 angels are above on the left corner. The interior still contains a pink puff and a cover net. It is incised "Made in Italy" on the inside of the box. Even the bottom of the case has incised floral ornaments. The brass is made from bronze d'oree, or gilded brass. Size: 3.1" X 2.3" (8 cm. X 6 cm.).
