Description: Pair of Antique Victorian carved coral, mounted in 14 carat gold earrings. 19th century.

Measure a little over 2 inches in length.

Exquisitely carved bright coral. T are 3 sections: The part attached to the post is a carved flower in full bloom. Slightly oval in shape, with very nice detail, it is finely carved - a magnifying glass will show the different levels and sculptural quality of the flower. Linked with a few gold loops to a coral bead, in turn linked to the main elongated, triangular drop. This consists of a number of carved flowers and foliage, partially cut right through the coral, highly raised in other parts, so that a close look would show many planes and levels (as opposed to a flat surface). The work is particularly fine and detailed and of the highest quality. The flowers and foliage are quite exquisitely delicate as they bend around, and overlap each other.

The coral is a lovely orange colour for the most part, the top flowers being slightly deeper red. THe colour of the coral is particularly consistant - without the usual blotches of pale/dark areas. Clearly a high end piece when it was made.

The gold tests for at leat 14 carats.

Very good condition. No damage of any sort.
