Description:
A banjo barometer in working condition in a beautifully crafted case. My pictures do not do justice to this beautiful instrument. It features an architectural pediment and boxwood stringing on a mahogany or walnut case. It includes the 9" barometer face, the agrometer for humidity measuring and a level.
It is likely an early 20th century reproduction of an 1825 barometer. These reproductions have been beautifully hand crafted in England for the last century and are collectible in themselves.
34" long and 12" wide.
The front of the case is slightly lighter in color than the back, indicating fading from exposure to light. There is also a chip on the pediment as seen in the photos. Small and easily missed.
Made in England is imprinted on the dial. No maker's mark.
A beautiful working piece that is priced much lower than others of its type. This would be about $600 in another market.
