Description:
Fantastic three piece Victorian bedroom suite attributed to
Thomas Brooks, NYC! This suite is made of birdseye maple with solid
rosewood decoration and moldings - a gorgeous and rare combination of two
quality hard woods. The dresser and nightstand both have an original cookie
corner marble, ornate carved pulls and carved and fluted corners. The back
on the nightstand is finished. The dresser has small boxes on the marble,
carved key escutcheons, and a secret drawer on the bottom. The top drawer
has
a shaped divider and birdseye maple secondary wood - an indication of
quality
and beauty! The mirror frame has a carved rosewood crest and candlecups on
each side. Both marbles have some normal staining. The mirror for the
chest is original with the "diamond dust" settling near the bottom. The bed
is larger than full size with 58"W x 78"L between the rails. It has a
curved footboard and a finished back to the headboard. Their are two
beautifully carved heavy finials on the headboard. The siderails have high
returns on each end and are similarly decorated with rosewood trim. The
suite has some minor splits, chips and stains in the wood. This is a
stunning Victorian bedroom suite by one of America's premier Victorian
cabinet makers!
