Description: Very good condition 1858 style Civil War Canteen. This canteen has been in the same family for the past 50 years. It is very much the same style as the Model 1858 U.S Army canteen. Although there are no maker or military markings, it appears to be a civil war canteen. It has a tin spout, the typical gray brown wool cover, and cloth strap. All parts are original to the canteen, except for the the cork and nut on the stopper. They have been replaced. The canteen, wool and strap are in very good condition considering age. The wool cover has a couple very tiny wear spots where the metal shows through. This is a great relic!
