Description: is an early cast iron primitive double snowbird. One side has been wired and waxed and the other side has been left "as found." In use, the birds were mounted on a heavy iron "L" bracket which was bolted to the roof. Snow birds were both functional and decorative. They were place about 12 inches apart on the roof and prevented built-up snow from coming off the roof. Variations on snow birds are still used today. If you like primitives, this snowbird wouldd make a nice decoration in one's house!
