Description: This wonderful George III style gothic revival table dates from the mid-nineteenth century. It was appraised in 1988 for $20,000 by Anton Rudert Jr. Appraisals of New York NY, a Senior Member of the American Society of Appraisers. It features a variegated white marble top above a frieze decorated with carved fretwork and containing a flush center drawer. The tops and bottoms of the tapered square legs feature trefoil arches carved entirely through on all four sides. Legs end in block feet featuring carved rosettes. Measures 52.5" wide, 31" deep and 29" high. Could be used as a center table, hall table, writing table or desk. It resides in a climate-controlled storage facility in northern NJ, and may be seen by appointment. Copy of appraisal will be provided at time of sale.

This table comes from the collection of Roni Steinberg Sokoloff and resided in her former 63-acre estate in Bedford New York known as Cantitoe Farms. (Formerly known as Sycamore Farms, the estate is down the road from Martha Stewart's estate by the same name.) Ms. Sokoloff purchased the table in the 1980s.
