Description:
Of their several different styles of wall "banjo" clocks, the New Haven Clock Company produced this model which they named the 'WILSON'. In it, the company installed a 30-day mechanism which often ran for well over a month due to the excellence of the steel springs. On the lower door glass is a reverse painting depicting the Mt Vernon estate of our first President GEORGE WASHINGTON. The oval design of the lower solid-Mahogany case is often referred to by clock collectors as a "Race Track" pattern. The solid Mahogany case has withstood the test of time during its nearly 100 years of service, attesting to the fact that this clock probably had only one or two owners who took good care of it in their homes. The ornamental cast side arms are gold plated. An 8" silver dial has some evidence of age but is overall in good condition with a bowed or convex door glass protecting it. The brass pendulum "bob" is also original as is the signed silver 'beat scale'. To complete the excellence of this fine clock, there is a nearly perfect paper label on the back of the case (see photograph). Our price for this exceptional clock is close to that shown in price guides five years ago. We keep our clocks reasonably priced for the benefit of our customers.
