Description:
There were many watches that were made for jewelers, distributers, and jewelry/watch companies under names that do not correspond to known watch companies. These are called "Ebauche" movements. Probably the most famous example of this type of merchandising is Tiffany. They never made their own watches, but instead purchased the best from the "Ebauche" manufacturers. If they purchased 25 movements or more they could arrange to have the name of their company or distributership put on the dial. That way they could be assured of a quality movement, that parts were readily available, and that they had a good Swiss company behind the process. This Lucerne is one of these watches. Not only does it have a good, 17 jewel, Swiss movement, but they went to the extra expense of making a real diamond dial for the piece. The case is yellow gold filled, measuring 23mm in width, excluding the crown by 38mm lug to lug. Notice the wonderful ball shapes along the sides of the bezel and the stylized lugs. The dial is a two-tone "bow-tie" format and it has a mellow vintage appearance. It is in excellent condition and running, setting, and winding, very smoothly! The watch is circa 1940 and has a interesting look. Like all of our timepieces it comes with a one year parts and labor warranty!
