Description:
An Outstanding, PAIR of Hand Carved Mirror, with Gesso and Gold-leaf finish, in the manner of Thomas Chippendale (1718-1779), an English wood carver and furniture maker. He worked in London and is particularly known for bold or extreme use and mixture of rococo, Chinese, and rustic motifs. He was said to be one of the most successful exponents of the rococo style, giving it a vitality not seen in the work of other designers. These Mirrors, though mid 20th Century Reproductions, (And No longer being Produced) were carved in the time honoured traditions by Master Craftsmen, using period tools and techniques. Old, antiqued Glass is fitted in the Mirrors, lending to the period Appearance. These particular Mirrors are decorated with Trees in Full Relief, with carved dividing bars, with Water-falls, Dripping icicles., and exuberant Rococo style leafs and foliage. Additional photos upon request. Serious inquiries only, please.
