The man, portrayed in the foreground in a static pose and frontal posture, seems immediately establish a relationship with the user. The face is depicted with vivid and light colours spread by soft brushstrokes, rounded to form the incarnate, while the clothes are made with dark shades. The portrait acquires more depth because there is a dark background, illuminated only by a outside source that highlighted the face. The light, in this work, is a very important element, it is inquiring and produces very accentuated effects of chiaroscuro. The medium is extremely sensitive and meticulous. ARTIST: unsigned. PROVENANCE: Italian private collection. CONDITION: The work has craqueleurs and small losses of colour, evidence of its value of antique.
