Description:
Fantastic quality three piece Renaissance Revival bedroom
suite made out of walnut with oak trim and high lights - a most unusual
combination of woods. Both the bed and dresser feature a lovely shield
shaped carved crest. At 59.5" the bed is almost queen size width. You
could put a full size mattress and box spring in it but we would suggest
ordering a custom unit to take advantage of the added width. The rails have
high carved returns at both ends. The head board and curved foot board have
large figured walnut panels. Both the dresser and night stand have original
salmon colored marbles (the dresser marble was cracked and has been
professionally repaired). Notice the figured panels in the commode door and
the drawer fronts of the chest. The chest also has fancy carved pulls.
The mirror is original with charming "diamond dust" imperfections. The
mirror frame has curved candle cups and small drawers on the bottom. The
top drawers of both the night stand and the chest have birdseye maple
secondary wood - a sign of fine craftsmanship! This suite is in wonderful
original condition. It even has the original bed castors. The dark walnut
with lighter oak panels, trim and moldings create a marvelous contrast. It
is a combination of woods we have never seen before in a Victorian bedroom
suite!
