Description: "The Spratling of Peru" ... Florentine-born, Graziella Laffi lived and worked in Peru during the 1950's, producing singular and stunning silver pieces in both modern and pre-Columbian forms. Most aficionados today believe that her creations rival the masterworks that came out of Mexico.

This fabulous brooch, with its Inca-cubist design is handwrought in sterling silver. The mirror-image bird figures have been cut into the solid silver and embellished with decorative tooled patterns. Their vibrant, cobalt blue enameled eyes are bevel-set and the deeply incised area behind the birds has been oxidized or patinated for dramatic effect. The pinback has a secure rollover clasp. Hallmarks: PERU, G LAFFI, 925. Size: 1-15/16" wide x 1" tall. Condition: Excellent--eminently wearable and a valuable addition to any serious modernist silver collection.
